How to upscale a video with AI
Attach the video and ask Recut to "upscale this to 4K" or "make it sharper". It runs an AI video upscaling model that raises the resolution and detail, and some models can also add frames to raise the frame rate.
Upscale this clip and make it 60 fps.
Step by step
- Attach the videoLow-resolution, soft or old footage benefits most.
- Say what you wantHigher resolution ("4K", "2x"), more sharpness, or a higher frame rate ("60fps").
- Pick the modelRecut suggests upscalers such as Topaz video upscale, FLUX video upscale and SeedVR, with their prices. Upscaling is usually priced by length or resolution.
- Run and compareCompare before and after on the timeline.
What Recut does
AI upscalers don't just stretch the picture: they rebuild detail that a simple resize would blur. Frame-rate models add new frames between the existing ones, which makes motion smoother and gives slow motion something to work with.
Recut fills in the model's settings from your request and shows the cost before you run it. The result is a new version; the original stays as it was.
Upscaling is one of the more expensive model runs because it works on every frame, so the price on each model card is worth a look before you run. A short test clip first is a cheap way to compare models.
Tips
- Upscale before adding captions or a logo, so those are drawn sharp at the final size.
- To make a video bigger without AI, a plain resize to a width works on your device for free, but adds no detail.
What it doesn't do
- Upscaling can't recover detail that was never recorded; faces and text may come out smoothed or invented.
- Maximum length and resolution depend on the model.
