How to add AI sound effects to a silent video

Attach the silent clip and ask Recut to "add sound to this video". It runs a video-to-audio model that watches the picture and generates matching sound effects and ambience, such as footsteps, waves or a door closing, in time with what happens.

What to typeAdd realistic sound to this clip: city traffic and footsteps.

Step by step

  1. Attach the silent videoAI-generated clips often come without sound; screen-free footage and B-roll work too.
  2. Describe the soundOptional, but it helps: "rain on a window, distant thunder".
  3. Pick the modelRecut suggests video-to-audio models such as Mirelo, Kling video-to-audio, Sonilo and MMAudio, with their prices.
  4. Run and mixThe model returns the video with its new sound. Add music or a voiceover on top in the same plan if you need them.

What Recut does

A video-to-audio model looks at what moves in the frames and when, and generates sound that fits the action and the setting. Recut handles uploading the clip, filling in the model's settings from your words and saving the result.

For one particular sound rather than a full soundtrack, ask Recut for a sound effect from a description instead, then mix it onto the video at the time you want.

Video models often return clips without sound, so this step is a common one in Recut plans: make a scene, give it sound, then join the scenes and lay music and narration on top.
