How to add music to a video
Attach the video and the music and ask Recut to put the music on the video. You can set how loud the music is, when it starts, how long it fades out at the end, and whether the video keeps its own sound. With no track to hand, ask Recut to compose one.
Put this song under the video at 30% volume, starting at 2 seconds, and fade it out at the end.
Step by step
- Attach the video and the trackAdd both to a Recut project. Up to two tracks can go on at once, for example music and a voiceover.
- Say the mixSay the volume ("quietly under the speech"), when it starts, the fade-out length, and whether to keep or mute the video's own sound.
- Or ask for new musicDescribe the music you want ("warm acoustic guitar, 20 seconds, no vocals") and Recut adds a step that composes it with a music model, then puts it on the video.
- Run itAdding audio runs on your device at no model cost. Composing music is a model run, and its price is shown before you press Run.
What Recut does
The picture is copied untouched and only the sound is rebuilt, so adding music is quick and keeps the video's quality. A volume of 1 leaves a track as it is; around 0.3 sits quietly under speech. The default fade-out is half a second.
For new music, Recut searches its model catalogues and suggests the strongest music models, such as ElevenLabs Music, MiniMax Music, Google's Lyria and Stable Audio, each with its price, before anything runs.
Tips
- Music too loud under speech? Ask for it lower rather than turning the whole video down.
- A still image plus a track becomes a video that shows the image for as long as the music plays: handy for posting a song.
What it doesn't do
- Recut doesn't check whether you have the rights to a song. Use music you are allowed to publish.
- Composed music comes from the model you pick; quality and length limits are that model's.
