How to add an AI voiceover to a video
Attach the video, paste the script and ask Recut for a voiceover. It reads the script with a text-to-speech model in the voice you choose and puts the voiceover on the video; if there is music, Recut can turn it down while the voice speaks.
Read this script in a warm, calm female voice and put it over the video. Mute the video's own sound.
Step by step
- Attach the video and paste the scriptAdd the video to a Recut project and type or paste what should be said.
- Describe the voiceSay the tone (warm, confident, excited) and the kind of voice. Recut suggests voice models side by side, each with its price.
- Say how it sitsSay whether the video keeps its own sound, and when the voice should start.
- Run the planThe voice is a model run; putting it on the video runs on your device. Listen back and ask for another take if you want a different read.
What Recut does
Recut plans two steps: a text-to-speech run that turns the script into speech, then a step that adds that speech to the video. The models it suggests first include ElevenLabs v3, MiniMax Speech and Gemini text-to-speech.
When Recut builds a whole film from scenes, it can give each scene its own narration, lay one music track under everything, turn the music down while someone speaks, and hold the last frame of a clip until its narration ends.
Tips
- Write the script the way it should sound: short sentences, numbers spelled the way they're said.
- Captions can use your exact script, so brand names are spelled right.
- To change an existing recording into a different voice while keeping the timing, ask Recut to change the voice instead.
What it doesn't do
- Only clone or imitate a voice you have permission to use.
- The voice follows the script's timing, not the video's: it won't be fitted to lip movements unless you add a lip-sync step.
Try it on your own video
